Words For a Final Generation
Studies in Deuteronomy
by David Hocking
The actual Hebrew name for this favorite book of our Lord Jesus is “Devarim,” which means words. These are “words” for a final generation. These are the words about the nation and the people of Israel. They are intended for all people, Jews and Gentiles. In particular, according to the Apostle Paul, these are the words for the final generation of humanity on planet Earth.
Deuteronomy is quoted over 80 times in the New Testament and in many ways appears to be the favorite book of the Lord Jesus. Israel was commanded to read this entire book publicly at the annual Feast of Tabernacles at the end of the Sabbatical year. As it is written in I Corinthians 10:11, “they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
May the Lord God of Israel bring great wisdom and understanding to all who read this powerful study!
