The Bible clearly declares that the Earth existed before the 6-Day creation. To not believe in a gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:3 is not only contrary to clear Scripture, it is not in keeping with the historical positions of both Judaism and Bible-believing Christianity. There is no reason to reject the plain sense of Scripture on this subject except that which has arisen in modern times— a need to prove a young Earth in order to deny theistic evolutionists a time frame for evolution to occur.
