Epp. In this book, Epp chronicles the trials of Job through his sufferings. Suffering is a universal human condition affecting all of us to one degree or another. So it’s only natural to ask, “Why is this happening to me?” During his suffering Job did not understand all the reasons for his trial, but he knew that God had reasons for his suffering. Thus, Job was able to say, “But He knows the way that I take; when He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Another Bible writer gives us an answer to Job’s anguish. James says, “You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord, that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” As you follow Job through his adversities and see the end to which God brought him, you can also learn to trust the Lord and let Him refine you as gold, confident that He seeks only what is best for you.
