The Case For Mecca: Islam in the Book of Exodus
by Avi Lipkin
There are a number of questions that must be addressed by Jews, Christians and Moslems alike. Are there hints or allusions in the Bible to what eventually become Islamic holy sites? Are Mecca and Medina in the Book of Exodus? Was Jethro, the High Priest of Midian, the high priest of what today is known as Medina or in Arabic Yathrib? Was the Ka’abah in Mecca in existence during the times of Moses and Jethro? Was it a site of pilgrimage predating Islam? Did the Exodus of Israelite slaves from Egypt take place 40 years in the Arabian peninsula? Is Mt. Sinai really in the Sinai peninsula, or is it in Arabia? Can the Bible serve as an ancient GPS? Do the borders of The Land that God promised to Abraham include Arabia? Why does Osama bin Laden say that the Jews must be killed to prevent them from taking Mecca and Medina as a “Jewish inheritance”?
