Robert Asks: Hi Gary. This is not a prophecy question, but something that I have always wondered about. In your latest talk with L.A. Marzulli, he stated that only Noah’s family was on the Ark. How can we explain the different races of people?
Since it deals with the days of Noah, your question may have more to do with Bible prophecy than you think. Jesus clearly stated, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Mt 24:37).
In other words, the great sin of the days of Noah will be repeated before Christ’s Second Coming, which is the main subject of Matthew 24. Jesus goes on to say that the conditions that existed before the great flood were what He had in mind. He describes them this way:
“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Mt. 24:38,39).
At first, it would seem that ordinary peaceful lifestyles were the antediluvian order of the day. But when you check Genesis 6 and 7, you discover that Noah and his family were saved from a type of “marrying and giving in marriage” that involved fallen angels – dark spirits from on high. Genesis 6:9 says that Noah (and by extension, his family) was “perfect in his generations.” That is, he hadn’t been corrupted by these interlopers, who had lustfully set up kingdoms upon the Earth.
This means that this particular family possessed a genetic purity that reached all the way back to Adam and Eve. Their rich gene pools had far more potential than ours do, today. Within them, unsullied, lay the future of the human race, as yet untouched by association with the ungodly and their habits.
Your question involves the “different races” of today. And you seem perplexed that they could come from one family. Historically, it has been taught that Noah’s three sons fathered three basic genetic groups: Shem went to the East, Ham to the South and Japheth to the West. But would these represent three different races? The answer is clearly, “No.” They all had the same father, and therefore, represented one race. But that was over four thousand years ago. Since then, passing time, climatic variations, tribal intermarriages, and natural selection have produced a variety of human types. Skin color, adaptations to diet and climatic hardships hot and cold, glandular differentiations, and dozens of other different environmental ravages have produced what we call different “races” today.
Actually, geneticists have found that the closest match they have found in worldwide studies is between dark-skinned Africans and light-skinned Finns, living near the Arctic. They are both the same race! But by habit, we have come to call the subtle variations in human beings “racial.”
I believe the Bible, and it says that Noah fathered all of the human beings who came after the great flood. Biblically, there is only one human race, with subtle local variations. But Satan would like to corrupt it, just as he did before the flood. Jesus told His disciples that in the latter days, another wave of genetic corruption would come against humanity. Some say that it has already begun to be discernable.
